I’m Matt, and I was born and raised here in Cranbrook. Growing up, the Paulson name always meant something. It stood for hard work, doing right by people, and being there when it counted. That’s what it still means to me today. Before I got into restoration, I worked in a heavy-duty industry. It was tough, demanding work, but it never felt like I was helping anyone in a meaningful way. What we do here is different. When someone’s dealing with a flood or a fire, they’re often feeling overwhelmed and helpless. Being able to step in, calm things down, and start putting their life back together—that’s what keeps me going.
Paulson is still very much a local company. We’re your neighbors, your friends, your hockey teammates. We know this town, and we care about it. At the same time, being part of the Pro-Claim Group means we’ve got a little extra horsepower behind us. We’ve got access to great tools, smart systems, and a support network that helps us raise the bar while staying true to who we are.

I first met Robert Paulson in 2019. We sat down, shared stories, and talked about why we do this kind of work. Right away I could tell he was the real deal. He cared deeply about people, about this community, and about doing things the right way. That kind of leadership is rare.
When Robert decided it was time to step away from the industry, he told me he believed we were the right people to carry on what he had built. That trust meant a lot to me. And while the road hasn’t always been perfect, I’m proud to say we’re doing exactly what he hoped we would.
Paulson Fire & Flood still feels like Paulson. The heart of the company is alive and well, thanks to folks like Matt and Shandi. They’re from here, they know the community, and they care about the people they serve. That matters.
